Damn, I sure am excited every time the awesome group that is CoWRY pre something. Why? Because CoWRY only pre asian flicks, more than not Japanese films which I am very fond of. Having seen “Inglorious Basterds” today at the cinema, I am sort of in the gore and excessive, visual violence mood and the DVD cover sure does promise exactly that. Go see Inglorious Basterds by the way, it was awesome.

Synopsis: An ordinary woman is transformed into a fighting machine in the wake of a shocking crime in this action drama from Japan. One day, a gang of violent criminals break into Sasori’s home and take hold of her husband as Sasori is goaded into murdering his sister. Convicted of murder, Sasori must prove her mettle against the tough-as-nails inmates at a grim women’s prison, but the former housewife reveals she can give as good as she gets in a fight. Sasori runs afoul of the prison staff and the warden (Lam Suet) exiles her into a woodland just outside the prison grounds, where she’s isolated with little hope of escape. To Sasori’s surprise, she encounters a hermit known as the Corpse Collector (Simon Yam), who gives her a crash course in the martial arts and helps her escape. Sasori fights her way back to civilization and tracks down her husband, who is now playing with a rock band at a night spot, while his wife is determined to get revenge for being sent through hell. Alright since a few of you responded well to the Ensiferum article I’ll post this new promo released by scene mp3 bigwigs QTXMp3. This is only a compilation of largely previously released songs unfortunately but there are 4 new unheard songs. All the songs on this album are cover songs, so no original material, but some funny choices with the distinct Bodom touch. I gotta say I’m a huge fan of Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper and Hate Crew Deathroll, but I reckon they got lost somewhere along the way. Perhaps I should have told them when I saw them drunk as f*ck backstage at Wacken Open Air last year Enjoy.

This is apparently a fairly zany and light hearted comedy (also known as The Wedding Bros in the US) that was shown at the SXSW festival where it was well received. Might be worth a watch if you like slapstick comedies and are sick of seeing the same bunch of Holly-Wood A listers. Enjoy!

Alright so I’m posting this super quickly before I have to pop off to see Inglorious Basterds. Ensiferum is one of my all time favourite bands. Their first 2 albums were utter genius and I was very happy to see them live at Wacken Open Air last year. I have to admit I did prefer their older stuff when their vocalist/composer/guitarist Jari was still around, but they’ve only released one album and one EP since then (which was still a great album btw) so this is the chance for Norther Petri to prove that he’s up to the task. FNT released this nice quality copy. Enjoy.
